Step 1. Relax, Breath, and Visualize
The whole idea is to relax. You can get in the relaxation mode by slowing down your breathing. or visualizing, or both.
Correct breathing is essential. To breath correctly, slowly breath in through you nose, hold for a few second, then breath out through your mouth and think “RELAX”. As you breath in your belly should rise, not your chest.
I can take a mini-vacation anytime, and anywhere through visualization. My visualization usually involves laying on the beach under the warm sun. The waves washing up under me and taking all my stresses out to sea. Use whatever scenerio that helps you feel refreshed.
Step 2. Interrupt Your Daily Routine
Are you a coffee drinker? What about sweets? Caffeine and sugar are fuel for anxiety. Consider cutting them out of your diet, or at least reduce them.
Exercise, whether it’s going to the gym or walking the dog. Exercise helps burn off stress reducing anxiety attacks.
Change your daily routine around. Wake up a few minutes early and read a few pages of your favorite book. Drive a different way to work. Do something that would be unusual for you.
Step 3. Untwist, Twisted Thinking
Your thoughts start on the inside and make their way out. Thoughts become a part of our behavior. If you’re in a crowed store, and you think you will freak out….then, you probably will. But the reverse is also true.
Make the shift from negative to positive thinking. Make your thinking work for you.
Step 4. Get Help
The more you learn about anxiety attacks, the more prepared you are to stop the attacks. Find someone to talk to who is experienced on this subject. Take the Panic Away Course and learn all you need to know about anxiety attacks and how to stop them.
Step 5. Have Faith In Yourself
